A South Carolina native, Dr. A. Drane Oliphant received a full academic scholarship to the Honors Program at The Citadel and graduated as a fifth-generation graduate Summa Cum Laude. He was awarded the President’s Medal by Major General Grinalds for most outstanding senior cadet. Dr. Oliphant received his Degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007. He graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine with a Degree of Doctor of Medicine in 2011. He performed as Chief Resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He is trained in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery and corrective jaw surgery for craniofacial deformities and OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). Dr. Oliphant has advanced training in reconstruction of ballistic injuries of the craniomaxillofacial region. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and the OKU Dental Honor Society. Published in the Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Oliphant contributes to the section of the book evaluating the inverted L mandibular osteotomy technique. Dr. Oliphant enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife, three daughters and his dog, Grady.
